Project Controls
Project: The implementation of Earned Value Management (EVM) project controls process and independent project performance reviews for commercial and military aerospace programmes.
Value: Multi billion dollar 2 year project.
Client challenge: A highly complex pan-European joint venture, the Programme is the subject of major long term investment by all partners. To support its delivery our client sought to develop and implement an EVM system that could operate across its entire scope.
Rhead role: To provide the Earned Value Implementation package. Phase 1 comprised an EVM Readiness Review to establish the maturity of programme management capability for EVM deployment and to support the development of an implementation strategy. Exhaustive in scope, the review involves Programme Management/Planning, Project Governance, Project Controls, Risk Management, Performance Reporting/Analysis, Support Systems, Programme Baseline Changes, and Cultural Challenges. Phase 2 comprises extended rollout implementation by a specialist Rhead team providing performance reviews to ensure the EVM system will adhere to the Programme strategy. The deployment approach is determined in consultation with key stakeholders to achieve a ‘best-fit /best-in-class’ EVM system for the client Programme.
Benefits: As a result of the in situ Rhead team expertise, the client will benefit from extensive knowledge transfer in EVM such that a wider scale implementation can be supported with minimal increase in the volume of external support required to ensure success.
