Company Background

The Rhead Group was founded by Alan Rhead in 1985, following his career working for main works contractors in the global oil and gas markets. His vision and philosophy was to set up a business that would utilise his experience to provide sound commercial skills and capabilities to the contracting market working in this sector.

He established a culture that would focus on delivering client satisfaction whilst creating an environment that would provide a rewarding and challenging career for all employees.

In 1987, Andrew Ferguson joined the team as a senior quantity surveyor. He was promoted to Director in 1994 and has since been instrumental in developing strong client relationships and the effective management of all operational aspects of the business. Today Andrew is Managing Director of the Group.

Charles Williams was appointed as a Director of the Group in 1991 with a remit to establish a northern based office to service the expanding client base. Today he continues to manage the northern based operations and has full responsibility for the procurement process for all contracts.

Organic growth has been the principle driver in taking the business forward. Extending the services beyond the contractor market has proven a great success and today the Group provides key services to both the contractor and the owner/operator market on a global basis.

In 2007, Nigel Curry joined the Group as CEO. Nigel is responsible for the strategic development of the company. His key priority is to explore and evaluate the potential of new sectors including nuclear, energy transport, water, marine and electricity.

Today the company has a current portfolio of international programmes valued in the region of four billion pounds. The company has built an enviable record of safeguarding clients’ projects through applying and delivering good commercial disciplines to leading corporations and organisations across the globe.
